Friday: Alternate Universes

Hello, everyone. I’m gehayi and today's theme is alternate universes. Prompts can involve alternate history (some major real-world event did or did not happen in-universe, like the Aztecs defeating Cortez or the Roman Empire never falling); parallel universes that in alternate dimensions; bizarro universes, where things are reversed from the usual context (for example, ugliness equaling beauty there, and vice versa); twisted, dark parallel worlds made from your worst nightmares; universes where one or two small changes have made a huge difference; mirror universes, where good and evil are reversed; elseworlds, where characters are put in situations drastically different from their canonical norm; universes where a certain character was never born/never existed; and so on.

Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!

Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt

Some examples to get the ball rolling...
Harry Potter, Lily Potter + Harry Potter, Lily grabbed Harry and Apparated away before Voldemort could harm either of them
Stranger Things, Nancy Wheeler, Nancy is the only one who remembers Barb afterwards
The Little Mermaid (Disney), Eric/Ariel, Eric chose to become a merman

We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2017 collection. See further notes on this new option here.

Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.

While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Fill. Stargate: Altantis, Evan Lorne/Ronon, Sentinel fusion/AU
Evan blinks in surprise and stares at the hand that is wrapped securely around his right wrist. He hadn’t expected that, at all. It’s the first time that he’s seen Ronon, newest resident of Atlantis, outside of an infirmary bed. They of course hadn’t touched and there had been absolutely no indication that something like this would happen.

Ronon smiles at him blindingly and says, “I’ve been looking for you. I could smell you all the way from the infirmary. Didn’t think I’d find my Companion here among your people. This is going to be interesting.”

Evan has trouble thinking around the tug in his chest and the longing he can feel so clearly from the Sentinel who’s just stopped him in the middle of a corridor halfway to the mess. He struggles to hold onto his shields, which are wavering in a way they’ve never done since he came online and had the proper training. Everything in him is screaming to get Ronon to a bonding suite, to get them privacy, to crawl into his Sentinel’s arms and merge with him in any way he can. But of course that’s silly and easier said than done. They’ve just met, they really shouldn’t bond before they know if they will be compatible, right?

An amused smile is curling Ronon’s lips and he tilts his head. “We should be going. I want to take my time learning you and it should be done the proper way. The bed in the quarters I was assigned won’t work. Do you have a ceremony room?”

Evan stares at him. “You mean a bonding suite? You want to imprint? To bond? Right now?” It isn’t unheard of but still highly uncommon to bond right away when it becomes clear a couple is compatible. Most people want to get to know the person they will be bound to for life, first.

“Yes, why does that surprise you?” Ronon sounds curious and more than a little confused. “The Guardian wants what it wants. And it wants you. I trust that my instincts are right. Does the Companion in you not recognize me as a good mate?

Worded like that, it makes sense. Yes, Evan can feel their compatibility, their connection, thrumming under his skin; the warm hand on his wrist a source of comfort and excitement alike. It's a heady feeling.

Evan smiles at his Sentinel. “Yeah, I’m on board with that idea. Let’s get ourselves a bonding suite.” He tapps his ear piece to contact the Sentinel/Guide official on Atlantis. The paperwork will be hell and Evan suspects that they’ll run into a few more obstacles along the way but he doesn’t care the least. He’s found his Sentinel and that is all that matters.

Re: Fill. Stargate: Altantis, Evan Lorne/Ronon, Sentinel fusion/AU
Nicely done! I love Ronon being all in right off the bat, and Evan hanging back. That's a nice example of both their personalities, and also their cultural differences. ::nods::

Thank you. It was an interesting challenge to write these two a Sentinel/Guide when my usual suspects are John and Rodney as you know. Glad you liked it.

This was absolutely perfect! I love how confident Ronon was and how Evan wanted to take things slow. At first, at least XD
Thank you for this lovely ficlet.

Awww I'm so glad you liked it. It's the first time I wrote these two in a Sentinel/Guide setting and I have to say it was an interesting idea to go there. Usually I pick John and Rodney. I'm glad that you think this worked.
