Be a Guest Host!

Hello, everyone!

As you all know, this community relies a lot on guest hosts to keep up a theme for the day, so here's your chance to give back!

Sign up to be a guest host! All you need to do is leave the following in comments and you'll be given a guest host week!

The first available week is January 6-10, 2020 and the rest of the calendar will be filled in accordingly. While week claiming is first come, first serve, those who ask for specific dates will be given those dates and others filled in around that.

Lonely Prompts Week is tentatively scheduled to happen the last week of March, June, September, and December.

If you are unavailable during certain times, please let us know and you will be scheduled accordingly.

If you would also like to be a pinch-hitter, you can fill out the same form and for the when spot, put pinch hit. Also, be sure to include your 5 themes. If you signed up to pinch-hit last year and were never used, I have brought you over to 2020.

Behind the "spoiler" tag are a list of dates and those who have signed up for them. Please check the comments to see which dates have already been given away vs what's been updated in this entry.

It's Tuesday, and I'm hungry. Let's talk mealtime!

Hello, everyone. I’m squidgiepdx and today's theme is mealtime. Prompts can be anything that has to do with mealtime, be it sitting down together to share a meal, meeting someone for a blind date for dinner, or really just the hustle and bustle of a military base when it comes to mealtime. Perhaps Rodney realizes the treats John is bringing him are in place of John talking about his feelings. Or maybe, even if Sherlock doesn't eat while on a case, he makes sure that John does. Whatever the case may be, if it's about mealtime, this is the spot.

Just a few rules:
No more than five prompts in a row.
No more than three prompts in the same fandom.
Use the character's full names and fandom's full name for ease adding to the Lonely Prompts spreadsheet.
No spoilers in prompts for a month after airing, or use the spoiler cut option found here.
If your fill contains spoilers, warn and leave plenty of space, or use the spoiler cut.
If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!

Prompts should be formatted as follows: [Use the character's full names and fandom's full name]
Fandom, Character +/ Character, Prompt

Some examples to get the ball rolling...
+ Stargate Atlantis, John Sheppard/Rodney McKay, Flirting through food
+ Merlin, Merlin/Arthur Pendragon, Merlin absently spills food on Arthur's clothes
+ Hawaii Five-0, Steve McGarrett/Danny Williams, "What are you doing in New Jersey?" "I... I brought you malasadas."

We use AO3 to bookmark filled prompts. If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3 please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2019 collection. See further notes on this new option here.

Not feeling any of today’s prompts? Check out Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 1 (not very current), Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet 2, or the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.

While the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheets and LJ's advanced search options are available, bookmarking the links of prompts you like might work better for searching for in the future.

Mondays mean back to work!

Hello, everyone. I’m squidgiepdx and for the next ten workdays, I'll be your host here on CommentFic. And what better way to celebrate a Monday is there than to talk about work? That's today's theme! You can prompt anything having to do with work - from someone taking their dream job, to someone daydreaming away while the mundanity of their job surrounds them. Or maybe their normal, quiet workday is interrupted by a camera crew a la 60 Minutes. Whatever it is, if it's about work, today's the day to prompt!

+ Stargate Atlantis, John Sheppard/Rodney McKay + others, "So this is what you do for work?"
+ Merlin, Merlin/Arthur Pendragon, Modern office AU
+ Check, Please!, Eric Bittle/Jack Zimmerman, Kidfic/Futurefic where Eric takes the kid(s) to daddy's work

Fifth Sunday of the Month

If this is your first time at comment_fic on Sunday, you can either post a previous prompt, or fill one. Or both!

How to do this:

Looking for prompts? You can find them in various ways! You can rummage around at the Lonely Prompts Spreadsheet, or go into the Calendar Archives, or for more recent prompts, you can use LJ's advanced search options to find prompts to request and/or fill.

Whichever you decide to do, prompt or fill (or both!), please remember:

1. You can only request five prompts to be filled.
2. You can request no more than three prompts from a particular fandom.
3. You can, however, fill as many prompts as you'd like!
4. In the subject line, be sure to say whether this is a request or a fill!
5. You must link back to whatever the prompt is in the community logs (whether filling or requesting it be filled), and, if you're filling the prompt, please complete the fill as a response to the original prompt.
6. If you are filling an "any/any" prompt, please let us know what fandom (or, if original, say so!) you're using for the response.
8. If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
7. If you filled any lonely prompts earlier this week, this is the place to share them!
9. Finally, we have a community at AO3. If you have an AO3 account, please post your fills there. More information on how to do this is located at this link.

To get things going, a few rules that I ask you all to follow.

LONELY PROMPTS WEEK::26 MARCH § DAY 4

March 23-27 is Lonely Prompts Week and it will be a challenge week! Each day will have a different theme for you to base the prompts you fill on.

Yesterday's Winner:

Thursday's Theme: Write a fill that deals with medical care.

More information: Today’s theme was inspired by real-life events going on now. a week from today a friend’s husband will be going in for open-heart surgery. It’s taken nearly 6 months to get to this point. I’m happy my friend’s husband will finally be getting the surgery but concerned given the state of the world and the COVID-19 still not being under some sort of control.

That said, anything related to medical care. A character needing but refusing medical care, a character having to decide what medical care to provide…anything.

Please remember to list your fill as a fill and to also number it. It would help if you could edit your previous comment to include new fills, but if you can't do that, then reply to your previous comment with newly numbered fills.
