What's left to say?
These prayers ain't working anymore
Every word shot down in flames
What's left to do with these broken pieces on the floor?
I'm losing my voice calling on you
Leo returns to his coffee, lips pink and soft and yet again he is interrupted. The sound is louder, coming from the bedroom where she should be sleeping peacefully, but her cries are ear splitting, and Leo quickly sets the cup aside and dashes into the bedroom.
Naadirah's lays twisted in the bedsheets, crying out in the night as dark dreams haunt her. She thrashes like a wild animal ensnared in a death trap, screaming for fear of her life.
Leo gentles her awake with a soothing hand brushing down her back, and she startles yet when he tenderly hugs her and brush his hands over her little trembling body, she breathes a sigh of relief. "It was only a dream, I'm alright," she is quick to ease him, and what should be a smile is a tiny, quivering whimper. She always tries to be brave so that she doesn’t worry Leo.
He furrows his brow as his eyes roam over her face, gently cupping her rosy pink cheeks.
This is not how life should be now, she fled from the bad men and they should live happily ever after, she shouldn’t be trembling as he kindly hugs her. She loves her new life with Leo and they should be all smiles and happy giggles, not a nightmare where Naadirah feels like screaming.
Still worried for her, Leo quickly asks, signing, ‘Are you sure you are alright?’
Naadirah smiles, trying hard not to worry Leo because he dearly loves her, and she adores him—she doesn’t wish to cause him ill will. “I love you, and I always will. You’re my soul mate and the love of my life.”
She tucks her trembling body into Leo's embrace, and almost like magic as he snuggles her, she feels calm and safe, like his devoted love can shelter her from her dark past. Leo cradles her until she falls asleep, tucking the cozy soft blankets around her and kissing her cheek Goodnight.
He reruns to his tea to find it has gone cold. No comfort to ease his worry for the love of his life and if the dark men from the past may return to haunt their future.
