Wednesday: Occupations

Well hola y'all! I’m bwhouwant2b it's my third day as guest host here at comment_fic.

Today’s theme is going to be Occupations .

Today we are going to tackle occupations. Everybody works, right, so lets explore that. Let's have fun with this; let's not limit ourselves to normal jobs people do crazy things for money.

Please think about our wonderful codemonkeys and use the correct format (the second is for crossovers).

Fandom, Pairing, Prompt
Fandom1/Fandom2, Pairing, Prompt

Leverage, Eliot/author's choice, circus clown
Supernatural/Angel, Lindsey/Sam, working security at a club

Please remember not to post more than 5 prompts in a row and more than 3 prompts per fandom. If one or more of your prompts are answered, you can prompt again later in the day.

If you don't see anything you like, you can always Adopt a Lonely Prompt.

Now, go forth and fic!! :D

________________________

On the first day they had all been nervous and exited and wary and humbled and egotistical. The champagne meet-and-greet hadn’t thrown any of them, they were all wearing running shoes and had torn into their fabulous Atlas apartments with a vigor of four-year-olds on Christmas morning after a breakfast of hot chocolate and waffles. And though not even the production crew could prove anything, certain personal items had gone missing in the frenzy.

But this was no longer the first day. This was beyond the halfway point, this was the top five. This was so close to Bryant Park they could TASTE it. This was the motherfuckin’ FOOD challenge. And don’t think they didn’t all see the glint in Eliot’s eye, because that was visible from SPACE. Alec groaned and complained loudly that there had never been a computer parts challenge because he had The Most Amazing Idea for a dress made of daisy chains with a nice little motherboard in lieu of a brooch. Sophie didn’t understand why they couldn’t just make clothes that people would want to wear, especially this close to Bryant Park. Parker was quiet, but then she was quiet a lot – three of the other four had said every single time they were in the interview room “there’s something wrong with that girl.” And Nate… well, he was plotting, but then he was plotting about as often as Parker was eerily quiet.

Tim Gunn, or The Awesome as Alec insisted on calling him, shook his head quite often with this group. It was, by far, the strangest group they’d ever had. And he was counting season two in that! But this season they were working together in a way he’d never witnessed before. And he could admit that that was due, in large part, to Nate Ford. Nate came to them from a fine arts background, but had branched out to textiles a few years ago after getting out of rehab, he was very open and honest about his addiction – rather like Jeffery in that, but not a massive dick at the same time. Tim was convinced that Nate had been a circus ringmaster in a past life, that was the only explanation. There were little things that he did that Tim and the production staff had turned a blind eye to, simply because they –as Tim liked to say – made it work. Nate made sure that every table had one thing that the designer didn’t need that would go perfectly with whatever Parker was working on; as soon as that had started, the youngest contestant of the season had started smiling and participating. Nate made sure that Sophie was complimented; that Hardison toned down the scifi influences in everything; that Parker had something to swipe that wasn’t going to cause a problem; that Eliot had a gym buddy and kept calm the rest of the time. It was more than that though; Tim saw what none of the other contestants saw: Love. And not just the flirting, though with this group that was… liberal (and giving those lovely boys from the project rungay blog so much fodder); but the genuine affection underneath.

As he witnessed Nate point out a set of corn holders (that would make amazing toggles on Parker’s outfit) to Alec, and saw Alec smile and nod in return, Tim wondered if any of the contestants realized what was happening. He had the ability to look in on them from another perspective and under the competition he saw something on this show he’d never witnessed before: A Team.

Re: FIC AHOY!
the original plan was for an entire episode of PR - the challenge, the shopping, the sketching, the creation, the bitching and laughing and the interview room - all the way to the runway. but then... it was just kind of done with Tim's observations. which is actually better b/c then i'm done w/in the lunch hour. LOL!

but i'm glad you liked it.

Re: FIC AHOY!
AWESOME.

Just...yes. That is the way you defeat a reality show: be a person and not a dick.

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!

So much awesomeness. Supersweet ending that I loved, and LOVE that it's from Tim Gunn's perspective (The Awesome, indeed).

Also ROTFLMAO at these:
"three of the other four had said every single time they were in the interview room “there’s something wrong with that girl.”

"It was, by far, the strangest group they’d ever had. And he was counting season two in that!"

Thanks so much for writing
